What are your predictions for the 2009 PGA Merchandise Show??

In general I think that the 2009 PGA Show attendance will be somewhat down due to the economical climate at present. Product orders will most likely be flat or down from previous years regardless of some additional vendors who are attending this year who have not in the past. The golf business will be “bear” for most of 2009 and hopefully toward the 4th quarter of 2009 we will see a slow “bull” market return.

Believe it or not even with this economy, I’m confident in the PGA. We will prevail. Because of our wonderful networking, we will stick together and make things work. The PGA has always had a hard work ethic, we just have to roll up our sleeves and get to work. The Show will give us an opportunity to brain storm and get us moving in the right direction.

I believe that attendees to this year’s Show will be cautious and more practical about their buying strategies. As a reflection of the economy, there are going to be less risk taking and more scrutiny on getting a solid return on the dollars invested. The focus will be on proven brands of merchandise and also an emphasis on technology that will enhance the cost effectiveness and efficiency of club operations. Look for a serious “ready to do business minded” attitude to dominate this year.
