Last month we gave thanks and this month we just keep on giving. I have a suggestion for you golfers out there. You might want to introduce our favorite game to a friend, a loved one, a grandchild or another sibling. You get to spend some quality time doing what you enjoy most with one of your favorite people in the mild winter weather we enjoy here in Florida. Just browse through our pages and pick one of the many courses that advertise with Florida Golf Central. Be sure to check out our 2006 Holiday Gift Guide on page 52 for your favorite duffer. By the way I wear a shoe size 10 (hint, hint).
December 15 th to the 17 th you might consider a weekend trip up to World Golf Village in St. Augustine to watch the LPGA Lady Legends compete in the Inaugural Handa Cup, a competition between mature stars from the United States versus stars from around the world. Names like Lopez, Carner, Stephenson, Geddes, Bradley and Sheehan will all be there to try and take home the Trophy. Question, for all you golf trivia folks out there- Who is the winningest golf professional of all time? Answer- The Ladies US Team Captain- Kathy Whitworth with 88 professional wins. While you are there you can view the Nation’s Oldest City Holiday Festival “Night of Lights”, or even better, for that special someone in your life, make an appointment at the Laterra Resort & PGA Tour Spa at WGV.
Speaking of the LPGA, write this date down, make sure you take the day off and invite your friends. January 15 th at the fabulous LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach we will have our New Year Birdie Bash on the Arthur Hill’s designed Legends course with a 10 AM shotgun start. If you have not been to one of our Florida Golf Central outings you are missing one of the best times you will ever spend on green grass. There will be food, drinks, prizes and a great day. Get to meet our outstanding staff who make this magazine happen every month and the reasons for the success we have enjoyed over 7 years.
May your holiday be safe and fun for you and yours, and have a happy golf filled New Year.
