Gemma Bourre Halifax Plantation

Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
I’m from a little town in N.C. called Havelock.

Tell us about your family. Are they golfers?
Well, two of my brothers and my mom are beginners. My fiance’ and his brother are far more seasoned golfers. And I can’t forget my sister-in-law…she’s pretty good as well.

Who is your favorite person?
Very hard question…so I have to pick two: the love of my life, Kris and my dear mother (also named Gemma) who ’s unconditional love has paved the road of my life and shown me the beauty and strength of being a woman.

What makes this club special?
The people…No Doubt! From upper management to the Pro Shop, bartenders and waitstaff, cart guys, starters and maintenance crew; Halifax employees make the club what it is

If you weren’t a cart girl, what would you be?
Actually, I’m a freelance make-up artist and have been so for almost seven years now. Anyone in need of my services can reach me at

What is your memorable moment at work?
Having a younger golfer challenge me to a game of “chicken” in our carts

What is the funniest thing you’ve ever seen on the golf course?
A group of golfers pranking each other by undoing the straps holding their clubs. So when they took off…down went the clubs!!

What is your best asset?
My compassion for others

What are your hobbies?
I LOVE to Dance!

What is in your refrigerator?
Lipton Diet Green Tea…the stuff is amazing!

I feel most comfortable when...
I’m with my family or at home
